The majority of today’s practices are unaware of what they are getting paid and
what formula is being used by the insurance companies. For evidence, check the
percentage of Medicare you are being paid by Empire Blue Cross and United
Healthcare. You would be shocked to find out that instead of paying Medicare
plus a percentage (Medicare 2004 RVU’s times 125%). Instead of this positive
formula, you are getting paid Medicare 2007 minus a percentage. In the case of
Empire Blue Cross the percentage is 70% of Medicare and United Healthcare it is
even lower at 62%. With the new Medicare cuts coming, your reimbursement will
